Notiero in Windsurf

Let Cascade save notes into Notiero as you work, and read them back when you pick the project up again.

Set it up

Create a key

Sign in at notiero.com, open Settings › For your AI, pick Add and read the AI folder so it can look things up, and press Create a key. Copy it, it is shown once. It is free.

Add the server

Open Settings › Tools › Windsurf Settings › Add Server, or click View Raw Config and paste:

Try it

Restart Windsurf, then say: "Save this to my Notiero: we use Postgres because we need joins." Later ask: "What did we decide about the database? Check my Notiero."

Where the config lives

macOS and Linux: ~/.config/devin/mcp_config.json. Windows: %AppData%\devin\mcp_config.json. Older installs: ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json.

Check it works

Refresh the MCP list in Cascade. Notiero appears with five tools. The tools are write_note, append_to_note, search_notes, read_note and list_notes.

If it does not work

It needs Node.js 18 or newer (node -v).
Windsurf is now part of Devin Desktop, so newer docs live at docs.devin.ai.
"Invalid or revoked key": copy the key again, or create a new one in Settings › For your AI.
"Write-only key" when searching: that key can only add notes. Create one with Add and read the AI folder.
Run npx -y notiero-mcp --version in a terminal to check Node can start it.

Common questions

How do I give Windsurf a memory?

Connect it to Notiero, a free notebook. Add the notiero-mcp server to Windsurf with your Notiero key. Windsurf can then save notes, add to them, and with a reading key search and read them in later sessions.

Can Windsurf read all my notes?

No. It can only reach the AI folder in your notebook, and it can only read there if you created a key that may read. Locked notes and notes saved as private are never readable. Nothing can be deleted.

Is Notiero free?

Yes. Notiero and the MCP server are free.
